Mervyn Durant

Mervyn (‘Merv’ to his fellow band members) sadly passed away on 26 May 2024, aged 93.

It was only a few years prior to that that Merv was playing trombone with Kingsbury Band but, in those last few years, he became seriously ill and was no longer able to play.

Merv was a keen and accomplished musician and played alto saxophone in the band for several years before changing to trombone. He took every opportunity to play music, not only with KEB but with other bands too; making music was Merv’s passion and his energy was seemingly boundless.

Kingsbury Band members send their sincere condolences to Merv’s family and friends and would like to thank Merv for his many years of service to Kingsbury Episcopi Band.
