Langport Club Day

This coming Saturday, 25 May, is the annual Langport Club Day march through Huish Episcopi and Langport. We march off at 8.30am to the church, so please assemble in Tesco car park around 8am. The service at the start will be held in All Saints Church this year and not St Mary’s.

Marches for Club Day: Ivanhoe, Chieftain, True and Trusty, 1914, Sussex by the Sea, Slaidburn, Loyal and True,

Music for the stops – march card size: Putting on the Ritz, Rock Around the Clock, Jump Jive ‘n Wail, Farmers Boy, Moonlight Serenade, Sweet Caroline

Please also have your hymn books for church and National Anthem. Please also bring your cap if you have one.

CD Recording

Brian and David announced that we have an opportunity to record Oregon to add to the CD and to re-record Spartacus, which wasn’t quite up to standard. Band members were happy to attend a further full day’s recording, although the suggested date of Saturday 29 June was not viable due to holidays etc. New potential dates will therefore be suggested, hopefully by next week, so please bring your diaries with you to rehearsal next Thursday.

Other News

Congratulations to Heather and Dennis on the birth of their grandson – they now have two baby grandchildren.

It was great to see Andy and Jay back after Andy’s illness.

Thank you to Mike and Julie for coming along to rehearsal and for joining the march this Saturday.

“The band playing was exceptional this year, and many have commented on the really good mix of carols and popular music.

Once again, huge thanks for playing for us again.”

“Just a note to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all of you in the Band for the great event on Sunday. We thought that the Band was on absolutely ‘top form’ and excelled in all aspects of the music.”

“I just wanted to officially thank you all for the wonderful performance you put on for our Street Fair. It isn’t official yet but I believe this was our best year ever for fund raising. Thank you for being a part of that. I say it every year and every year I mean it, when I say Drayton Street Fair wouldn’t be the same without you. It’s the music that lends the day its particular vibrance, I believe.I hope you all enjoyed yourself and that we’ll see you again next year.”
