Langport Club Day March
Bill Langford (Chairman of Langport District Friendly Society) came at the beginning of tonight’s rehearsal to thank band members very much for last Saturday’s march and to hand out a special bottle of beer to each one of those who participated. He said the band’s contribution is hugely appreciated and they couldn’t do the march without us. He made special mention of Les Male and Mike Standen who have both loyally participated in the march for several years – and, at Saturday’s post-march luncheon, they were made honorary members of the Society to thank them for all their years of service to the march, and indeed the cause. Well done everyone and especially to Les and Mike.
Next Gig – Cat Head Inn – 13th June
Our next gig is an open-air concert on Thursday 13th June in the garden of the Cat Head Inn in Chiselborough, (Cat Street, TA14 6TT) starting at 7.30pm and finishing around 9pm. This takes the place of our normal Thursday rehearsal. As there won’t be a gazebo, should the weather not be fine, then the event will be cancelled and rehearsal will be as normal in Langport. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we can earn some money from the donations. There will be a hog roast too, but band members will need to pay for that. From memory, the chairs are a bit hard, so you may wish to bring a cushion and maybe a light for your stand, just in case. You can park anywhere along the street outside the pub. Please walk around the side of the pub (entrance on the left as you face the pub) and into the garden, rather than walking into the pub itself (it may hurt).
Brian’s Comments
Please take a look at West Side Story and At the Movies during the coming week.
As soon as you know your holiday plans and which gigs you won’t be able to attend this season, please let Brian know as soon as possible to allow him to plan the programmes accordingly.
